All proceeds go towards the El Maestro Cultural and Educational Center’s campaign to save/buy their space.
The Mission
El Maestro, named in honor of Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos, is in the process of raising funds to buy the building that they have been operating out of for the past 20 years. In the face of displacement, perpetually increasing living expenses, and small businesses constantly being pushed out for commercial spaces owned by corporations, purchasing this building will ensure that El Maestro thrives for generations to come.
As a community organization with a basic annual operating cost of approximately $50,000+ that is engaged in supporting marginalized sectors of the population who face specific economic & social challenges, El Maestro relies heavily upon grants, donations, & activities designed to raise funds.
Uptown Vinyl Supreme’s community jam on January 6, 2024, will contribute all proceeds to El Maestro’s immediate economic goal of $80,000 and bring them closer to their greater goal of purchasing their current operating space. Acquisition of the property will allow for the doubling of usable space for El Maestro, in turn allowing for increased athletic, social, & cultural opportunities for a greater number of community youth, their families, and beyond.
